…effective the end of this month.
My co-blogger PhyCon says he saw a report on Fox News where Sarah’s brother indicated she was essentially tired of all the Bravo-Sierra. That’s perfectly understandable, given how both Democrats and the squishy, non-conservative, Rockefeller-wing, wannabe-Democrat “moderate” Republicans (yes, I said that) were attacking not only her but her children. I was looking for a link, but can’t find one yet.
My first read on this, however, is that her chances for 2012 are now kaput, unless she manages to get a better position in the near future, and those are few and far between. Any Presidential run now would just get bogged down in controversy over the resignation.
Update: A couple of hours in, and the conservative blogosphere is completely at sea.
- Mark Levin says, flat out, she is running for President.
- Bill Kristol thinks that it’s a set up for a 2016 or 2020 run.
- Jonah Goldberg disagrees, asking why resign now for a 2016 or 2020 run?
- Stephen Green agrees with me, that it’s over for her.
- So does Amy Holmes.
- Kathryn Jean Lopez shares an email from “an Alaskan in Palin circles” claiming that she’ll wait till after 2010 and then decide.
- Quin Hillyer declares that she “is cutting and running.”
- John Gizzi thinks that Palin is getting out to help her Lieutenant Governor, but leaves it up in the air what she will be doing in the future, sharing opinions that vary as much as those above.
The moral of the story? When intelligent and insightful people like the above can’t decide what’s going on, I guess the safest thing is to just sit back, wait, and see what happens. Alas for those of us in the blogosphere (and I admit I am a very junior member of that club), the urge to pontificate becomes irresistable.
All leftists, especially in media and politics, are rejoicing and giddy with orgasmic feelings of happiness. Their deep-seated hatred for conservatives like Sarah Palin has no bounds. Until people stand up to leftists everywhere and put them in their place, more Sarah Palins will be mercilessly attacked, demonized and destroyed. Congratulations leftists. Your sadistic and abhorrent acts have resulted in what you always wanted for Sarah Palin…her political destruction. Let’s see who’s next.
[...] Conservative Wanderer @ 6:17 am Okay, I’ve had the night to sleep on and cogitate on Sarah Palin’s resignation as Governor of Alaska, and despite my earlier warning about predicting things like this, I am gonna [...]
I don’t think it will be feasible for her to re-enter the political scene if that’s what she’s planning on doing in a few years.
