Newt For President In 2012?

Well, he says he’s running

In the last 24 hours, former U.S. House speaker Newt Gingrich has touched base with several prominent Republicans in his former home state, telling them that he intends to make a run for president in 2012 using Georgia as his base – and that he already has his eye on office space in Buckhead for a campaign headquarters.

Personally, I think it’s gonna be a hard sell… especially given his past personal issues, which the Dinosaur Media is sure to dig up and splash all over the headlines.

In my view it’s not impossible for Newt to rehabilitate himself enough to make a run for the WH, but for now I don’t think that’s taken place.

I do see a prominent role for him in GOP administrations and campaigns to come but it is in fulfilling that role that he could once again “prove himself worthy”, IMO.

Sorry, Newt. You play, you pay.

If he was running against Clinton, or John Edwards or some other Dem with personal issues, Newt’s own issues wouldn’t be as much of a problem. However, thus far Obama seems to have avoided that particular problem.

However, you do make a good point about Newt playing a supporting role in the next GOP administration. He does have some good ideas, but he also has some downright wacky ones. Under a good President, tho, the bad ones will get weeded out and hopefully the good ones implemented.
