Airmen Killed and Wounded at Frankfurt Airport; Shooter Yelled “Allahu Akbar” As He Fired
Tragic news out of Germany:
Two US Air Force servicemen have died after a gunman opened fire on a bus carrying American military personnel at Frankfurt Airport, police say.
Two servicemen were also wounded. One of the dead is said to have been the driver. All four were based at RAF Lakenheath in eastern England.
A 21-year-old man from Kosovo was arrested at Terminal 2 close to where the attack took place.
And the New York Times–yes, that Times, the veritable Bible of left-liberalism–is actually doing some real reporting on this story, including this little factoid:
A man whose office is near the site of the shooting, speaking on condition of anonymity to protect his business, said witnesses told him that before opening fire the gunman shouted “God is great” in Arabic. Mr. Füllhardt, the police official, said he could not confirm such reports.
“God is great” in Arabic is, of course, “Allahu Akbar.” Note, however, that according to the PJ Tatler, an earlier version of this Times story read (emphasis in the Tatler story):
A man whose office is near the site of the shooting said it was an area where buses load arriving passengers. Speaking on condition of anonymity to protect his business, he said witnesses told him that the gunman first talked to the military personnel to find out who they were and then opened fire, shouting “God is great” in Arabic.
No mention of the police official carefully “not confirm[ing] such reports.”
The same Times story also has this little bit of info:
An American military official, speaking on ground rules of anonymity, said that the United States was not ruling out terrorism, although it was unclear if the suspect was acting alone or with partners. “I don’t know if he’s tied to a group,” said the official. “But there is enough information at this point to indicate that he identifies with Islamist terrorist ideology.”
One wonders how long before the Times updates the story yet again with another official playing down that last statement. After all, Barack Hussein Obama has made the Muslims love us again, so why would they shoot Airmen? The Narrative is all, nothing must be shown to impugn The Narrative.
