Kerry, Baucus, and Murray Named To Super Committee
National Journal (emphasis in original):
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., will appoint Democratic Sens. Patty Murray of Washington, Max Baucus of Montana, and John Kerry of Massachusetts to the new super committee tasked with finding $1.2 trillion in additional deficit reduction by November 23, according to a senior Democratic aide familiar with Reid’s decision, which is expected to be made public as early as Wednesday.
FroAdditionally, Murray is expected to co-chair the committee, officially named the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction, along with a still unnamed House Republican. A spokesman for Reid did not respond to a request for comment.
Let’s see here…
- Kerry has a 2010 ACU rating of 0.00, and lifetime of 5.07
- Baucus has a 2010 rating of 12 and lifetime of 14.15
- Murray’s 2010 rating is also 0.00 and her lifetime rating is 2.59
In other words, they’re every bit as lefty as one would expect from Reid… Baucus’ rating is mostly due to 3 votes on immigration bills… on taxing and spending he’s just as lefty as Kerry or Murray.
Assuming the GOP nominates similar hard-liners–and I hope they do–this is highly likely to end in a deadlock.
