The Attacks On Perry Begin
Attack 1: He “doesn’t hold his tongue.”
While visiting Iowa, the GOP presidential candidate said Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke would be committing a “treasonous” act if he decided to “print more money to boost the economy.” Perry said if Bernanke did that “we would treat him pretty ugly down in Texas.”
Attack 2: He’s vulnerable with the right!
Indeed, in an interview with a Des Moines radio station on Monday, Perry was deluged with questions from informed Republican voters about potential conservative heresies on his record — from his enthusiastic backing of an unsuccessful superhighway proposal that critics claimed was a land grab, to his support for Al Gore in the 1988 Democratic presidential primary.
Attack 3: He may be violent!
A Northeasterner, your blogger does not know what happens when one is treated “pretty ugly down in Texas.” Will Rick Perry tell the Chairman of the Federal Reserve that a particular color shirt doesn’t make him look washed out, when it in fact does make him look washed out? Or will Perry encourage Bernanke to get a haircut that makes his jowls look jowlier? What do you think he means?
No word from that Northeasterner blogger about Democratic strategists saying that Obama will have to kill Romney.
It’s been said that you know you’re over the target when you start getting flak. I’d say that means Perry has Obama zeroed in. Or is that too violent?
