Perry Jabs Romney On RomneyCare
Perry aims right for Romney’s jugular (emphasis in original):
It wasn’t quite “Obamneycare,” but Texas Gov. Rick Perry chided former Mitt Romney for the health care overhaul he signed as Massachusetts governor.
“I think Mitt is finally recognizing that the Massachusetts healthcare plan that he passed is a huge problem for him, and yeah it was not almost perfect,” Mr. Perry said Thursday on the Laura Ingraham Show, a conservative national radio program.
Messrs. Perry and Romney have traded barbs for a bit now, but the remarks are Mr. Perry’s most explicit critique of Mr. Romney, once considered the race’s front-runner. A trio of polls Wednesday –Gallup, PPP and Rasmussen – showed the Texas governor opened up a double-digit lead over Mr. Romney.
Given all the bad things we’ve been learning about ObamaCare, and how even Romney himself has stated that there are similarities between RomneyCare and ObamaCare–and said in 2008 that he likes mandates, as in the government forcing people to buy health insurance–this is really Romney’s Achilles’ heel, and Perry was absolutely right to hit him in it.
