Salazar Clueless On Gas Prices
Gas may be pricey (and getting more pricey by the day), but a statement like this one is priceless:
Department of Interior Secretary Ken Salazar said that “no one knows” if gasoline prices in the United States will reach $9 per gallon, and acknowledged that the possibility is outside his control.
Actually, Mr. Secretary, it is in your control, at least to some extent. When you artificially restrict supply (cough, permitorium, cough), the law of supply and demand predicts that the price will go up, and that’s exactly what’s happening, thus confirming that basic law of economics (as if it needed more confirmation).
It’s troubling, though not surprising, that this cabinet member is apparently completely unaware of this basic fact of life on this planet. It’s emblematic of the whole Obama Administration’s limousine-lefty worldview, based on the fact that few if any of them have pumped their own gas or shopped for their own groceries in years, if ever in their adult life.
The Romney Campaign needs to seize on this and put it in front of the American voters every chance they get.
