Let The Firestorm Begin: Literary Promotional Booklet Claims Obama Born In Kenya
Please note, like Andrew Breitbart, I have never been a “birther.” However, I believe that Obama has through much of his adult life fictionalized — that is, lied about — many things about himself. It is in that spirit that I present this:
Breitbart News has obtained a promotional booklet produced in 1991 by Barack Obama’s then-literary agency, Acton & Dystel, which touts Obama as “born in Kenya and raised in Indonesia and Hawaii.”
The booklet, which was distributed to “business colleagues” in the publishing industry, includes a brief biography of Obama among the biographies of eighty-nine other authors represented by Acton & Dystel.
It also promotes Obama’s anticipated first book, Journeys in Black and White–which Obama abandoned, later publishing Dreams from My Father instead.
I’ll say it again. I do not believe that Obama was born in Kenya. However, I do believe that he was willing to lie about it for the same reason that Elizabeth Warren was so eager to be listed as a minority at Harvard: in lefty circles, that sort of thing is a career enhancer par excellence.
It also points out that Obama himself — given that it’s hardly likely that the agent would list him as born in Kenya without asking his approval — is himself at least partly responsible for the whole birther thing. Whether it was a mistake or whether he planned to use it to paint his opponents as wacko nutjobs is beside the point, he still bears responsibility.
Can we really trust this man with the levers of power any longer?
