Obama Budget Unanimously Defeated In Senate
Back in March, this budget didn’t even get a single vote in the House, now it’s had the same result in the Senate — which is controlled by Democrats!
A budget resolution based on President Obama’s 2013 budget failed to get any votes in the Senate on Wednesday.
In a 99-0 vote, all of the senators present rejected the president’s blueprint.
It’s the second year in a row the Senate has voted down Obama’s budget.
Democrats are desperately trying to spin this as “not really Obama’s budget,” but the Republicans are ready for that with a very good answer:
Democrats disputed that it was actually the president’s plan, arguing that the slim amendment didn’t actually match Mr. Obama’s budget document, which ran thousands of pages. But Republicans said they used all of the president’s numbers in the proposal, so it faithfully represented his plan.
Sen. Jeff Sessions, Alabama Republican, even challenged Democrats to point out any errors in the numbers and he would correct them — a challenge no Democrats took up.
If there’s no Democrat that can point out any discrepancies between the bill and Obama’s budget, their complaint that the bill didn’t match Obama’s budget falls very flat.
So, once again, Obama can’t even get his own party to vote for his budget. Talk about embarrassing?
