And The Winner Is…President Barack Obama?!?!

I thought I hadn’t awakened from my sleep and was still dreaming when I heard that our most highly esteemed potentate and savior of the world, President Barack Hussein Obama, had won the Nobel Peace Prize [Article – Obama says he’ll accept Nobel as ‘call to action’].

President Obama was gracious in his acceptance speech. He had the same feeling of shock and surprise that millions upon millions of people experienced when it was announced that he had won the Nobel Peace Prize. He acknowledged that he was not deserving of the prize and didn’t view the award “as a recognition of my own accomplishments,” but rather as a recognition of goals he has set for the U.S. and the world. Mr. Obama said, “I do not feel that I deserve to be in the company of so many transformative figures that have been honored by this prize.” But, he said, “I will accept this award as a call to action, a call for all nations to confront the challenges of the 21st century.”

What accomplishments? Community organizing? Being a state senator? Performing the duties of a U.S. Senator for the sum total of two years? Talking about hope and change? By transformative figures, I am guessing that President Obama is excluding the late bloodthirsty terrorist Yasser Arafat. It should give us all a warm fuzzy that Obama is accepting the award as a “call to action”. President Obama Scraps Eastern European Missile Defense System

President Obama has decided to scrap the missile defense systems in eastern Europe [Article – 1. Barack Obama surrenders to Russia on Missile Defence | 2. Analysis: Shelving missile shield may coax Moscow to help curb Iranian nuclear ambitions]. The groundwork for the defense system was laid down by President George W. Bush in response to long-range nuclear missile threat, particularly in reference to possible future missile launches from Iran. The Obama decision pleases Russia and has invoked mixed feelings from people in Poland and the Czech Republic. It has been assessed that eastern Europe is not under any serious threat from a long-range missile attack [Article – 1. East Europe: Rancor, relief on missile shield plan | 2. U.S. scraps missile defense shield plans | 3. President Obama Retreats on Third-Site Missile Defenses].

Efforts will be concentrated on defending against short to medium-range missiles instead. It has been proposed that a more mobile, multi-homing defense system be implemented, rather than using ground-based missile defenses that do not have multi-homing capabilities.

Remember the words of Barack Obama, before he was elected as President:

Obama’s Worldwide Disarmament Tour—How Many Countries Will Sign On?

President Obama was in Russia yesterday. He spoke to President Dmitry Medvedev and Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.  He and Medvedev came to a nuclear weapons reduction agreement, but Putin did not disclose his feelings on the matter.  Interesting [Article – 1. U.S.-Russia relations still far from reaching solid footing | 2. Putin loses nothing in Russia-US summit | 3. A Czar in Chains].

If the world’s nuclear powers are to reduce their nuclear weaponry, they all must be on the same page.  Clearly, they are not.  China will continue to sit on the fence and see how world events unfold.  Iran is hell-bent on wiping the nations of Israel and the United States off the face of the Earth.  As long as Israel is threatened by extreme radical Islamists and Islamic republics whose lifelong ambitions are to destroy the country and its people by any means necessary, it will not relinquish its nuclear weapons, period. Pakistan and India are no closer to resolving their differences than they were before and their relationship is tenuous at best. North Korea has already clearly stated what its intentions are; therefore, don’t count on that country to give up on its nuclear weapons program. Great Britain may relent and so may France, but that’s it [1. Putin: Russia will abandon nukes if others do | 2. From Brezhnev to Medvedev].

Vladimir Putin seems to be the only one who recognizes worldwide threats and how to address them.  Our esteemed potentate and savior of the world either does not think the threats are not too serious or he thinks that everyone can sit down and discuss issues in a peaceful, civil and reasonable manner. Afterwards, everyone would be served ice cream and cake, holding hands and singing “Kumbaya”. With all of the unstable tyrants and terrorist factions that exist in the world today, what is our great leader doing? He is disarming us. He will continue to do so. He has cut defense spending and will continue to do so. All the while our enemies amass more and more weaponry, conventional, chemical, biological and nuclear. Our enemies are watching Obama as he continues to weaken our military and national defense. They are biding their time and waiting for just the right time to strike and strike on a massive scale. They cannot be negotiated with. They cannot be reasoned with. They can be appeased and if they get what they want, they will use it against us in one form or the other.

Sad to say, we have millions of people in the United States, some of them being in positions of power, who insanely cling to the belief that every weapon can be eradicated from the world. They are dreamers and reality escapes them. We also have small groups of people who would be willing to be killed or die at the hands of our enemies because in some twisted, warped way, they insanely think the United States is deserving of retribution. They think we deserve it or had it coming. As long as they don’t take me or anybody else with them, I’m okay with that.

Evil and wickedness exists. Sadistic, power-hungry, wicked people exist in the world. That is the sad truth. They will find ways to kill as many people as quickly and destructively as they can. The only way they can be confronted is with irresistible, deadly force. Our “god” (with a small “g”) Obama is systematically defunding and/or removing the tools we need to confront despots and radical extremists and he is weakening our defenses. We still haven’t secured our borders, namely our southern border—an area of the country where violent gang members and extremist murdering thugs are crossing over into our country, seeking to spread chaos and mayhem. President Obama is making us less safe. Our president is living in a naive, fantasy-filled dream world and unfortunately we are along for the ride. Heaven help us [Article – 1. 52 Seconds of Obama Unilaterally Disarming America | 2. Obama Wrecked The Economy, Now He’s Working On National Security | 3. North Korea Tries To Minimize The Fourth Of July Celebration By Launching Fireworks Of Their Own

In a provocative gesture toward the United States, the despotic ruling class of the communist nation of North Korea used the Independence Day weekend to launch seven ballistic missiles [Article – Missiles show NKorea skills improving: officials]. The launches also violated several United Nations resolutions. Was an attempt made to destroy the launch sites? No. Were the missiles shot down, at least? No. What will the United Nations be forced to do? Draft more resolutions and levy more sanctions, most likely.

The actions of the North Koreans over the past few months indicate that they are really “shaking in their jackboots” about threats from the United Nations and for that matter, the Obama Administration [Article – 1. AMERICA THE WEAK | 2. N. Korea Tests More Missiles, Lashes Out at U.S.]. I can hear the North Koreans now: “Oh no! More dreaded sanctions and strongly worded talk! What are we to do? I guess we’ll just have to continue working on our nuclear weapons program and launch ballistic missiles.” Those sanctions are working really well. Those harsh words are really hurting their feelings. If you look closely, you can see a tiny teardrop flowing from one of Kim Jong Il’s bespectacled eyes [Article – 1. Engagement with North Korea still critical | 2. World powerless to stop North Korea | 3. Krauthammer: U.N. Powerless Against North Korea].

What has President Obama done? Nothing. It appears that the standard reply to tyrants from Obama is (à la Robin Williams), “STOP…or I’ll say STOP again!” [Article – Obama says North Korea nuclear test a “grave concern”] Perhaps more bowing down to the altar of the United Nations is called for? Perhaps President Obama needs to ask the United Nations for permission before destroying North Korea’s ability to wage nuclear war? My, Obama and the United States are looking stronger than ever to our enemies. I’m sure the South Koreans and the Japanese are sleeping with one eye open [Article – A Timid Advocate of Freedom].

North Korean Ship Suspected Of Carrying Material For Nuclear Weapons Being Tracked

North Korea continues to test the “world community” with their continuing disregard of United Nations resolutions made in an effort to halt their production of nuclear weapons.  According to a Fox News article, “The U.S. military is planning to intercept a flagged North Korean ship suspected of proliferating weapons material in violation of a U.N. Security Council resolution passed last Friday.”

The Fox News article continues:

The ship left a port in North Korea Wednesday and appears to be heading toward Singapore, according to a senior U.S. military source. The vessel, which the military has been tracking since its departure, could be carrying weaponry, missile parts or nuclear materials, a violation of U.N. Resolution 1874, which put sanctions in place against Pyongyang.”

As ACW has repeatedly pointed out, U.N. resolutions mean nothing to North Korea. They will take every opportunity they get to further their interests. Then what will happen to the North Korean ship? The Fox News article states:

“This is the first suspected ‘proliferator’ that the U.S. and its allies have tracked from North Korea since the United Nations authorized the world’s navies to enforce compliance with a variety of U.N. sanctions aimed at punishing North Korea for its recent nuclear test.

The ship is currently along the coast of China and being monitored around-the-clock by air.

The apparent violation raises the question of how the United States and its allies will respond, particularly since the U.N. resolution does not have a lot of teeth to it.

The resolution would not allow the United States to board the ship forcibly. Rather, U.S. military would have to request permission to board — a request North Korea is unlikely to grant.

North Korea has said that any attempt to board its ships would be viewed as an act of war and promised ‘100- or 1,000-fold’ retaliation if provoked.

Since the U.S. does not expect to be granted permission, it expects to be asked to interdict that it will have to shadow the ship until it runs out of fuel. At that point, the ship would likely have to be towed into the port.”

In other words, nothing is going to happen to the North Korean ship. With the U.N.’s backing, the U.S. will probably attempt to work behind the scenes to confiscate any illegal cargoes if the ship pulls into another country’s port to refuel. Other than that, more of the same blatant violations by North Korea [Article – U.S. Military Set to Intercept North Korean Ship Suspected of Proliferating Missiles, Nukes].

North Korea Thumbs Its Nose At The “International Community”

Clinton tried to appease them, Bush saw the futility in dealing with them and now Obama thinks the U.N. can help. North Korea hasn’t  existed this long without finding ways to get around numerous U.N. resolutions, embargoes, sanctions and restrictions. Otherwise, they wouldn’t be testing missiles and have enough nuclear material to detonate. Nothing can be done militarily to stop North Korea, especially by the United States. North Korean officials know this and telling them that the international community doesn’t like it is really breaking their hearts [Article – World powerless to stop North Korea].

North Korea Threatens To Invalidate 1953 Armistice

In another move towards a possible confrontation with South Korea, North Korea proclaims the 1953 armistice that ended the Korean War is no longer valid, threatening a strong military response to South Korea’s decision to join an effort to halt atomic weapons trafficking [Article – U.S. Takes Skeptical Look at North Korean ‘Bluster’ | Press Release – ROK Endorses Proliferation Security Initiative Principles].

The North Korean government has made similar threats in the past in an effort to get something they want. However, judging from North Korea’s recent missile launches and nuclear tests, it appears they may be ready to make good on this most recent threat. The U.S. official response is one of skepticism. “North Korea continues to isolate itself. Threats and bluster will not get North Korea the attention and respect it craves,” says one senior White House official.

North Korea Tests Nuke—Obama Talks

Ah yes, North Korea. They successfully tested a nuclear device on May 25. How’s all the talk and diplomacy doing? How’s that working out? It didn’t work with Clinton, even after sending Madeline Albright to hammer out an “agreement”. The North Koreans viewed the Clinton “agreement” as not being worth the paper it was written on. It didn’t work with Bush, that’s why he didn’t pursue the issue any further than he had to. So far, President Obama has harsh words for North Korea, but that’s all they are…just words.

Those in power in North Korea have thumbed their noses at the international community. They ignore U.N. resolutions when it’s convenient for them to do so. What’s it going to take to convince them to cease pursuing nuclear armaments? More talk? More negotiations? More diplomacy? Sadly, no. It will unquestionably take brute force to make them compliant with the international community. The past 55 years have proven that all talking has done is given North Korea plenty of time to get what they want [Article – North Korea tests nuclear weapon ‘as powerful as Hiroshima bomb’].

How Is The Obama Administration Keeping Us Safe?

In an interview with former Vice President Dick Cheney on State of the Union with John King, Mr. Cheney hit the nail on the head regarding Premier Obama and his commissariat [Article – Cheney Says Americans Less Safe Now].

Obama has been, is, and will be fulfilling his campaign promises, much to the great harm of the United States: No more military trials for suspected terrorists. No more Guantanamo Bay and other overseas sites where the CIA has held some terrorist detainees. Obama ordered CIA interrogators to abide by the U.S. Army Field Manual’s regulations for treatment of detainees and denounced waterboarding, part of the Bush program of enhanced interrogation, as torture. He is wants to cut defense spending and disarm the U.S. military while at the same time, pouring more troops into Afghanistan. Oh yes, he asked for help from nations in Europe who don’t have a dog in the fight in Afghanistan. What was their response? Tepid at best. In other words Premier Obama, look elsewhere for help. Of course, Premier Obama denies the fact that Iraq had something to do with supporting, aiding, and abetting terrorism. He would rather reduce the number of troops in Iraq than fight a global war on terror. Judging by the actions of the past few weeks, it seems that Obama and his commissariat are more concerned about political correctness and not offending our enemies.

Premier Obama is doing next to nothing about securing out nation’s borders. Instead he and his commissariat choose to blame the United States for the troubles south of the border. Do we know how many weapons and terrorists are being smuggled over the southern border, along with illegal drugs and immigrants? Border security or lack thereof, was a shortcoming of the Bush administration and now, since Obama and his commissariat have dismantled post-9/11 safeguards, it is highly unlikely that anything will be done to secure any of  our borders.

Premier Obama chooses to speak to the likes of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, a person who wants to wipe the nation of Israel off of the map and then by extension, the United States. He chooses to put his faith and trust in the United Nations in regards to the totalitarian state of North Korea and its leaders’ continued defiance of any U.N. resolution. Guess what, even though it was only partially successful, North Korea launched a long-range missile and the Obama-led United States did nothing about it, making us look weak in our enemies’ eyes and sending a message to allies like Japan that they are on their own if they want to defend themselves against those who want to destroy them.

Obama has made it known to our enemies that we will disarm. No more nuclear deterrent, no more missile defense, no more technologically advanced weapons, no more of anything to protect Americans from harm. Everybody will just get along and there be no more wars. Nobody will kill anybody over ideology, religion, or national boundaries. There will be peace and harmony. Of course, Premier Obama said that may not happen in his lifetime, but who’s keeping track of what he says? He seems to change stances every time the blowing wind shifts. I guess that’s change we can believe in [Article – Obama: “America (Seeks) a World Without Nuclear Weapons” But…]. I would like to know how Obama magically received the ability to wipe evil, murder, and mayhem from the hearts and minds of those who want to kill us. What a gift! We should all feel better now!

This is just the beginning, folks. This is how Obama plans on keeping us safe. Let’s hope there is even a United States of American left after Premier Obama and his leftist minions finish keeping us “safe”.

WSJ and WaPo Almost Agree

Now this is something we seldom see… the Wall Street Journal and the Washington Post coming very close to agreement on anything (except, perhaps, that rain is wet, but the WaPo might find some way to spin that one).

First, the WSJ:

Rarely has a Presidential speech been so immediately and transparently divorced from reality as Mr. Obama’s in Prague. The President delivered a stirring call to banish nuclear weapons at the very moment that North Korea and Iran are bidding to trigger the greatest proliferation breakout in the nuclear age. Mr. Obama also proposed an elaborate new arms-control regime to reduce nuclear weapons, even as both Pyongyang and Tehran are proving that the world’s great powers lack the will to enforce current arms-control treaties.

And then the WaPo weighs in with:

Now, it’s true that [Obama’s Special Envoy to North Korea Stephen] Bosworth said he thought there also should be “consequences” for the missile test and that U.S. policy should “combine pressure with incentives.” But it’s hardly surprising, given his statements, that China and Russia would resist new sanctions — or that North Korea would have fired the missile in spite of U.S. warnings. Why listen to such warnings, when the administration has already made clear that its main response will be to offer more diplomatic attention, sweetened with “incentives” — in other words, exactly what Mr. Kim was seeking?

Quite interesting… and quite scary when one considers just how bad a blunder Obama must be making to have these two papers with quite different editorial outlooks so close to agreement.

US “Not Prepared” To Thwart North Korean Missile Launch

Now we know why Obama was so keen to keep Gates as SecDef… the guy is walking on tiptoes around the North Koreans:

The United States can do nothing to stop North Korea from breaking international law in the next 10 days by firing a missile that is unlikely to be shot down by the U.S. or its allies, Defense Secretary Robert Gates said Sunday.

Appearing on “FOX News Sunday,” Gates said North Korea “probably will” fire the missile, prompting host Chris Wallace to ask: “And there’s nothing we can do about it?”

“No,” Gates answered, adding, “I would say we’re not prepared to do anything about it.”

Mind you, it’s not because we can’t do anything about it:

Last week, Admiral Timothy Keating, commander of U.S. forces in the Pacific, said the U.S. is “fully prepared” to shoot down the missile. But Gates said such a response is unlikely.

“I think if we had an aberrant missile, one that was headed for Hawaii, that looked like it was headed for Hawaii or something like that, we might consider it,” Gates said. “But I don’t think we have any plans to do anything like that at this point.”

And, note, this is not a peaceful missile test:

Gates said while he doesn’t think North Korea has the capability yet to shoot off a long-range nuclear-tipped missile, “I don’t know anyone at a senior level in the American government who does not believe this technology is intended as a mask for the development of an intercontinental ballistic missile.”

In other words, Gates is prepared to sit back and let the North Koreans take one more step towards having an ICBM that can carry a nuclear warhead, even though we could probably knock it down and at least demonstrate that capability to Kim-Jong Il and any others that are trying to develop nuclear missiles… like, say, Iran.

And Obama seems to be accepting that view–if not actively encouraging it.

Be afraid. Be very afraid.

This Is How We Are Restoring Our Reputation In The World

As the Obama regime dismantles post-9/11 safeguards and security measures, our enemies are eagerly and joyously formulating sinister plots to kill as many people who don’t share their political and/or religious ideologies as they can. Meanwhile, other nations who see the United States faltering as a super power, are gearing up for potential conflict(s). (sarc-on)With his exemplary skills in negotiation and his vast knowledge of foreign affairs, Premier Obama has assembled a highly-qualified team of diplomats to assist him in his quest to “restore” the name and reputation of the United States in the eyes of the world.(sarc-off) This is how Premier Obama and his commissariat have responded to our friends, enemies, and mugwumps:

1) China.

2) Israel.

3) North Korea.

4) Iran.

5) Pakistan.

6) Russia.

7) Great Britain.

Congratulations to Premier Obama and his cohorts. You’re off to a rip-roaring start in “restoring” our reputation. By “restoring” our reputation, if you meant making us look weak, inept, and incompetent, you’re on the right track.
